Commands and targets
The CLI suits scripts, agents and operations requiring explicit targets. Running anytty opens the TUI; subcommands perform individual operations.
Inspect the target first
anytty --version
anytty endpoint list
anytty terminal list --endpoint local --json
Listing endpoints reads configuration, not reachability. Terminal commands operate through the selected endpoint’s owning daemon. In automation, specify the endpoint rather than relying on a mutable default.
Target syntax
Creation uses --endpoint ENDPOINT. Existing tasks generally use ENDPOINT:TERMINAL_ID:
anytty terminal show local:first-session --json
anytty terminal capture local:first-session --lines 80
These examples assume that ID exists. Scripts should retain the create response’s target or obtain IDs from list output. Display names can change; do not derive stable IDs from pane titles.
Help and output
anytty --help
anytty terminal --help
anytty terminal create --help
Use --json where supported and NDJSON for event streams. Captured terminal text is untrusted program data, not a shell command to execute.
Daemon preparation
Interactive users can let anytty start the local daemon. Unattended scripts must ensure their target daemon is ready. See maintenance; manual startup is not a prerequisite for everyday TUI use.
Continue with terminals, devices, files/history and script results.
