Create and manage terminals
Creating a terminal selects its device, startup command and working directory. A pane is only the place where the resulting task is displayed.
Create from the picker
Press Ctrl+F, choose a device and select New Terminal. In Create Terminal, use Tab between fields, Enter to submit and Esc to return.
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
name |
Required task name, such as api-tests |
command |
Empty for the default shell; otherwise a program available on the target |
server |
Required target endpoint |
workdir |
Existing target-machine directory; verify any prefilled value |
tags |
Optional comma-separated KEY=VALUE, such as project=demo,role=test |
This TUI form has no separate environment-variable editor. Use the target shell, a startup script or a CLI workflow for environment setup.
Open and edit
Search with Ctrl+F and press Enter to open a task. For centralized management, use Ctrl+G → p, then Ctrl+E on a selected entry to edit supported metadata.
Renaming a terminal does not move its running process or rerun its command. Use restart deliberately, or create a separate terminal for a different command or working directory.
Distinguish lifecycle actions
| Action | Result |
|---|---|
| Detach | Leave the view while the task continues |
Shell exit |
End the shell normally and retain its record |
| Kill | Request process termination; not evidence of success |
| Delete | Remove a terminal record after reviewing whether it is still needed |
Built-in panel bindings include d detach, r reconnect, R restart and X kill. The manager uses Ctrl+R restart, Ctrl+K kill and Ctrl+X delete. Check current help for customized or recommended bindings.
Verify the result
After creation, check the name, endpoint, prompt and directory. After exit, inspect state and exit code: “exited” alone does not mean success. See task lifecycle.
