Terminal picker and manager

The picker answers “which terminal should I open?” The manager answers “what is happening to these tasks, and how do I organize them?” Both work with the same terminals but expose different layouts and actions.

Picker: open a task quickly

Press Ctrl+F, search by name, command or other searchable metadata, then inspect the selected preview. Search uses ordered subsequence matching; characters need not be adjacent. Match highlighting is configurable.

Built-in key Action
Left / Right Switch endpoint
Shift+Left / Shift+Right Switch state filter
Up / Down Select an entry
Ctrl+O Endpoint selector
Ctrl+T Tag filter
Enter Attach
Tab Open in a split
Ctrl+E / Ctrl+K / Ctrl+X Edit / kill / delete

New Terminal creates a task. If search finds nothing, check device and state filters before changing the query.

Manager: inspect and organize

Press Ctrl+G → p. Compare names, states, commands, directories and available resource samples. CPU and memory observations do not prove application health.

Capture instructions · tui-manager

Prepare three demo tasks with running/exited states and kind=task tags; capture the picker and manager with preview.

Built-in manager actions include Enter attach, Ctrl+T open in a tab, Ctrl+O open floating, Ctrl+R restart, Ctrl+E edit, Ctrl+K kill and Ctrl+X delete.

Inspect before acting, especially when devices have similarly named tasks. Restart begins a new run rather than restoring process memory.

Search and layout settings

tui.chrome.picker controls picker width, density and endpoint tabs. tui.interaction.picker controls match highlighting. Picker appearance settings do not change the manager layout. See interaction settings.
