Updates and compatibility

Replacing the executable, restarting the daemon and migrating data are separate steps. Read release notes before applying background changes.

Check and update

anytty update --check
anytty update

Supported versions download and verify matching release assets before replacing the binary. Very early builds without update can use the installer again. Inspect releases for versions and assets.

Running daemon

Update does not automatically stop or restart the daemon. New CLI/TUI processes use the new binary while an existing daemon may remain old. Resolve protocol incompatibility by saving tasks and coordinating component updates.

Configuration and history

Installers preserve existing TUI configuration, including old bindings. Compare new templates and validate deliberate changes.

Beta releases may change protocol, configuration and storage. Current source includes cleanup rather than migration of old history formats. Review release notes and preserve important results before crossing formats.

Downgrade

Older versions may not read newer data. Back up recoverable preferences and artifacts, reinstall deliberately and prefer fresh pairing. Protected credentials are not ordinary portable settings.

After upgrading, verify versions, daemon status, connections and a small task. Keep the App compatible too; see releases and support.
