Daemon settings and retention
daemon: settings control output buffers, history and resource sampling. They share the configuration system with tui: preferences but load when the background service starts.
Example retention policy
version: 1
daemon:
output_buffer:
capacity_bytes: 33554432
resident_budget_bytes: 536870912
overflow: block
history:
max_size_mb: 256
max_age_days: 14
compression: zstd
compression_level: fast
resource_sampling:
interval_ms: 500
max_samples: 512
This example uses 256 MiB per terminal and 14-day retention. Defaults are 512 MiB and age 0, meaning no age-based deletion.
Output buffering
capacity_bytes defaults to 32 MiB per terminal generation. resident_budget_bytes defaults to a shared 512 MiB daemon budget.
block applies backpressure and may slow output reading. drop removes old payload and reports gaps. Choose based on continuity and resource needs.
History and sampling
Size 0 means no size limit; age 0 means no age deletion, not disabled history. Compression supports zstd, s2 and none; levels are fast, balanced and best, ignored for none.
Resource sampling controls CPU/memory observation interval and retained points. Start with defaults before increasing sampling costs.
Apply changes
anytty config validate
Validation does not reconfigure a running daemon. Schedule an interruptible window and restart; for an explicit file use anytty --config ./daemon.yaml daemon restart. Reopening the TUI does not reload daemon settings.
See configuration reference for ranges and environment overrides. Preserve needed history before tightening retention; raising limits cannot restore deleted data.
